Basic Biographical Details

Name: Thomas Currie & Sons
Designation:
Born: c. 1860(?)
Died: 1872
Bio Notes: Thomas Currie was born in 1812 and was an architect/builder in Elie. By about 1862 he was in partnership with his son John, born in 1840, who was probably articled to his father but the quality of whose best work suggests that he had experience with a leading architectural practice.

In 1870-71 John commenced independent practice at 5 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh but this does not seem to have been a success as he appeared in the Post Office directory for the year 1870-71 only. He then returned to Elie to practise in his own name; thereafter Thomas appears to have acted only in the capacity of builder.
