Basic Biographical Details

Name: John Hutton
Designation:
Born: 1867
Died:
Bio Notes: Born in Kendal, John Hutton was the second son of Edward Hutton, builder. He was probably trained by the Kendal architect Eli Cox whose daughter (Mary Agnes?) he married. Following Cox’s death at the relatively early age of forty-eight, he continued his father-in-law’s architectural and surveying practice at 22a Highgate, Kendal, and at Grange-over-Sands. Hutton was very much a local architect, most of his known works being concentrated in the areas round Kendal and South Lakeland. Member of the Surveyors Institute. LRIBA by 1914.
