Bio Notes: William Benzie was born in Inverkeithney, Banffshire c.1846, the son of James Benzie, crofter, and his wife Janet Morrison. By 1871 he was working as a joiner in Glasgow. In 1878 he was working as Linday & Benzie and in 1881 he is a 'wright, builder (partner in firm)' Ten years later he is described as a builder and property agent and continued as such in Glasgow until at least the first decade of the 20th century. He was married three times: first to Catherine Auld by whom he had eight children: Lizzie, Jessie, Edith, James, William, Kate, Ruth and Henderson. His second marriage to Rachael Bain of Kirkintilloch took place at the Bath Hotel in Glasgow on 31 June 1889. His third marriage was to Margaret Cherry by whom he had two children, Clifford and Aileen.

Benzie died on 12 April 1926 aged 79.
