Bio Notes: George Laird was born on 2 February 1898, the son of John Laird, architect and his wife Mary Jane (or Jessie) Lillie. He was presumably articled in his father's firm, J W & J Laird, and left with his father when the partnership was dissolved in 1925. His father took him into partnership with the practice title of John Laird & Son, c.1928.

Laird married Helen Robson Caldwell. They had at least one son, also called John. George Laird died of a broncho genic carcinoma in Mearnskirk Hospital, Newton Mearns on 23 March 1973 survived by his son John, then at 60 Montgomery Street, Eaglesham.

The practice was still in operation in 1955.
