November 1998 | Bio Notes: | Eric Melvin Galloway was born on 17 December 1912 and studied at Aberdeen School of Architecture from September 1929 until June 1935, concurrently serving a three-year apprenticeship and two years as assistant to James Brown Nicol. In July 1935 he moved to Slough and joined W David Hartley as chief assistant. Whilst there he was admitted ARIBA, his proposers being Nicol, Hartley and Robert Leslie Rollo.
In 1938 he joined the architectural department of courier company Carter Paterson in London, leaving on the outbreak of war. After the war he practised in Southampton in a post with Chilworth Estates Ltd. He was admitted FRIBA in 1955, proposed by Ernest Bird, R A Gutteridge and J B Brandt.
