Basic Biographical Details Name: | Thomas Morgan Forrest | Designation: | | Born: | 21 May 1879 | Died: | | Bio Notes: | Thomas Morgan Forrest was born on 21 May 1879 and was articled to George Penrose Kennedy Young of Perth on 12 July 1895. On completion of his apprenticeship four years later he moved to Carlisle where he worked for fourteen months as assistant to Thomas Taylor Scott. He may have taken time off to travel thereafter, as it was not until May 1901 that he took his next appointment, as assistant to Charles H Dorman of Dorman & Son, Northampton. In January 1902 he joined Vallance & Westwick of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire as assistant, remaining with them for just over three years before returning to Perth to commence practice on his own account on 1 June 1905. He emigrated to Canada in April 1907 and in early May joined Peden & McLaren of Montreal as senior assistant, Thomas McLaren having been a fellow apprentice with him in G P K Young's office in Perth. He left the following year due to a decline in the firm's business, and found a new position in the office of Saxe & Archibald, also in Montreal, the latter firm being described by McLaren as 'one of the best firms in the City'.
