Bio Notes: Thomas Arthur Lodge was born in 1888 and was educated at a private school in Hitchin. He studied at the Architectural Association Schools from 1905 to 1909. He was articled to Thomas Geoffry (or Geoffrey) Lucas for one year (or more, probably beginning this association after he left school) and remained for a year as assistant. Later he was assistant to Martin & Medlicott. He appears to have been in partnership with Thomas Oliphant Foster and Percy Wells Lovell c.1910, the partnership being dissolved in or before 1914 when Foster left for India. From 1914 to 1922 or 1923 he was a partner in the practice Lucas & Lodge in Hitchin.

In 1923 Henry Vaughan Lanchester joined the practice which became Lanchester Lucas & Lodge. This lasted until 1928. Lucas withdrew from the partnership in that year; the title then became Lanchester & Lodge. From 1945 until 1967 Lodge was senior partner. Lanchester died in 1953 but in practice probably did little work in Britain after 1930 and none after 1945.

Lodge retired from architectural practice in 1957 but the name of the firm continued (and continues in London to this day).

Lanchester died on 16 January 1953 in London. Lodge continued the practice under the existing name thereafter.

Lodge died in Walmer, Kent in 1967.
