Bio Notes: John Garrard Elgood was born in Leicester in 1833 or 1834. He was articled to Henry Bowman and Joseph Stretch Crowther of Manchester from 1848 to 1854. In 1855 he moved to become an assistant in the office of Thomas Worthington who took him into partnership in 1881. He passed the qualifying exam and was admitted ARIBA on 9 February 1874, his proposers being Worthington, Edward Salomons and Robert Jewll Withers. He was admitted FRIBA on 13 January 1890 and died at Swiss Cottage, Bowden, Manchester on 8 March 1893.
