Bio Notes: George Hall was born in 1856 in Crathie, the son of James Hall, mason. In 1871 he was living in Craigendarrich in Glenmuick with his family. His father died when he was young and George Hall had moved to Aberdeen as a jouneyman mason by 1881. He practised as a builder. He built a house for himself in Ballater also called Craigendarroch. Either he or his son, also George, enlarged and aggrandized the house in about 1920.

He was perhaps part of the firm which designed and built the Carron tearooms in Stonehaven.
