Basic Biographical Details | Name: | Robert Anderson Collie | | Designation: | | | Born: | 10 December 1906 | | Died: | 1984 | | Bio Notes: | Robert Anderson Collie was born on 10 December 1906 and was articled to Keppie & Henderson of Glasgow from 13 August 1923 until 1927. He commenced the diploma course at Glasgow School of Architecture in September 1926, receiving his diploma in June 1931 and passing the RIBA qualifying exam the following month. He was admitted ARIBA at the end of that year, his proposers being John Keppie, James Miller and John Watson. At that time he was working for Miller and was living at 5 Abbey Drive, Glasgow. He had also worked as assistant for several other unidentified Glasgow offices, and his travels prior to that date had taken him to the Mediterranean and Near East (three months in 1927) and to New York (two weeks in 1928). Collie moved to Yprkshire and subsequently became a partner in Swainston Wilson & Collie which was based in Middlesborough. He retired in March 1970.
