Bio Notes: Horace Gildard White was born on 11 April 1905 and was articled to William Macfarlane Patrick of Dundee in December 1922, studying at the Dundee School of Art and Technical College. On completing his apprenticeship in May 1927 he took up an appointment with H J Fraser of Grantown-on-Spey, but he left after only a year to join H M Office of Works in Edinburgh. Whilst there he was given the freedom to undertake private commissions and acted as development architect for the London Midland and Scottish Railway Company's properties in Edinburgh. He was still in this position when he applied for Licentiateship of the RIBA in 1935, and he was admitted LRIBA on 6 April 1936, his sole proposer being George Houston Watson.

By the mid-1950s he was senior architect with the Ministry of Works.

Further details of his career are as yet unknown, but he retired on 31 December 1969 and died on 8 November 1986, survived by his daughter.
