Basic Biographical Details Name: | James K Hunter Architects | Designation: | | Born: | 13 February 1929 | Died: | | Bio Notes: | When James Kennedy Hunter died on 13 February 1929, he left his practice at 51 Sandgate, Ayr to his assistants Henry Sloan McNair and Andrew Douglas. Both had been in Hunter's office since commencing their apprenticeships, McNair (b.1885) in August 1902 and Douglas (b.1892) in 1908, with the exception of war service. McNair had studied at the Glasgow School of Art and Glasgow Technical College under Eugène Bourdon and Charles Gourlay, and Douglas had attended classes at Ayr Academy, where McNair was teaching by the time of their commencement in partnership. The firm continued under the name of James K Hunter Architects.
