Basic Biographical Details Name: | William Mollison Wilson | Designation: | | Born: | 1901 | Died: | 10 May 1990 | Bio Notes: | William Mollison Wilson was born in Broughty Ferry in 1901, the son of Alexander Wilson and was the younger brother of James Mollison Wilson. He was educated at Grove Academy and Dundee High School and trained as a civil engineer with Robert Gibson. He set up his own practice as civil engineer and architect at 61 Meadowside Dundee in 1926. His earliest works were mainly alterations and additions to factories and foundries, but the practice gradually encompassed architecture through cinema and ice rink work. He is not listed in the RIBA Directory of 1970-71, presumably because he never joined the RIBA, though he was a member of the RIAS and the TPI. The practice was later W M Wilson & Partners and from 1990 The Wilson Partnership.
William Wilson married Kathleen Galloway in 1927. They had a daughter who now lives in Sweden. Wilson died on 10 May 1990. His interests outwith the practice were the Rover Scouts, golf, fishing and apiculture. | Private and Business AddressesThe following private or business addresses are associated with this : | | Address | Type | Date from | Date to | Notes | | 61, Meadowside, Dundee, Scotland | Business | 1926 * | After 1939(?) | | | Castle Chambers/26, Castle Street, Dundee, Scotland | Business | 1970 * | | |
