Designation:
Born: 1903

Bio Notes: William Sydney Trent was born in 1903, the son of London-based cinema architect William Edward Trent. He studied at the Architectural Association and received its diploma in 1923. He joined his father's practice and took charge of the private side of it when his father became a full-time employee of the Gaumont British Picture Corporation in 1929 on its takeover of Provincial Cinematograph Theatres, of which the elder Trent was already salaried chief architect. He retained his father as a consultant, this arrangement lasting until 1932 when he joined Gaumont British to assist his father with the massive increase in workload following the introduction of 'talkie' films.

William Sydney predeceased his father, dying in 1944; William Edward died in 1948. Neither ever sought membership of the RIBA.
