Bio Notes: Peter C Smith began his career in Cullen where his father (probably Alexander Smith) was the architect and engineer to the Seafield Estates. He then moved to Aberdeen where he was chief assistant to the Burgh Engineer. In 1896 he moved to Glasgow to the post of resident engineer with Glasgow Corporation Sewage Department. In 1902 he moved again, this time to Arbroath to the post of burgh engineer, where he remained until 1914 when he moved to a similar job as burgh enineer and town planning engineer in Dunfermline. After the First World War he moved in 1919 to become housing and town planning engineer in the Middle Ward of Lanarkshire where he was responsible for the design and constrction of 7000 houses as well as various child welfare institutes. In the 1930s he was Lanarkshire County Architect before William Brown.
