Basic Biographical Details Name: | Lennox Dundas Paterson | Designation: | | Born: | 7 May 1902 | Died: | 28 January 1984 | Bio Notes: | Lennox Dundas Paterson was the younger son of Gavin Paterson of Hamilton and his wife Isobel Simpson Brown. Born on 7 May 1902, he was educated at Rossall School, Lancashire and studied at the Glasgow School of Architecture and Royal Technical College from 1924. He was employed as an assistant to his father from 1929. In 1930 at the time of his marriage to Elizabeth Christie Rankin, he was a Captain in the 6th Battalion the Cameronians, having been a cadet at Rossall School. He later rose the the rank of Major.
In that same year Lennox Paterson became a partner in his father's firm when the practice title was changed to Gavin Paterson & Son, and sat the quafying exam and was elected ARIBA the following year, his proposers being Thomas Harold Hughes, James Lochhead and Alexander Cullen, junior. He was admitted FRIBA on 6 February 1939, his proposers being Alexander Cullen, Thomas Harold Hughes and William James Smith. The practice was closed in 1979 (though there is still an entry for it in the RIBA directory of 1981. Paterson died on 28 January 1984 at Law hospital, Carluke. His wife Elizabeth Christine Rankin had predeceased him. At the time of his death he was living at 3 Auchingramont Road, Hamilton.
