Bio Notes: William A MacKinnell (some sources give Mackinnel) was born in 1871 in Blackburn. Nothing is known as yet of his training but he was associated for many years with Robert Barbour, son of James Barbour. In his later years MacKinnell worked mainly in Kirkcudbrightshire and did a great deal of schoolbuilding for the Education Authority there. Latterly he was appointed county architect.

He died in November 1940.
