Bio Notes: George Martin was born in 1809 in Old Machar Aberdeen. He commenced practice in Glasgow as a civil engineer and surveyor about 1840. From about 1870 he was in partnership with Robert Dunlop, probably his chief assistant as no previous independent practice shows in the directories.

He died on 14 February 1875 leaving moveable estate of £173 8s 1d, probably not much more than the chattels in his house, but he may have had heritable property.
