His wife Catherine was from Blair Atholl and they had one daughter, Grace, who was born in about 1890 in Moulin. However in the census of 1891 he was staying with his mother in Berwick (perhaps simply visiting with his daughter) but he was probably practising in Perthshire by this date. He practised in Pitlochry as an architect surveyor. Few details of him are yet known. He formed a partnership with David Morris of Echt, Aberdeenshire from about 1908 with an office in Bank Street, Aberfeldy. The partnership lasted at least until 1911, if not well beyond.
