Bio Notes: Archibald Scott was born c.1798 in Dunbar, East Lothian, and practised architecture in Edinburgh from at least 1825.

In 1841 he was living with Barbara Scott (b.1780) who had independent means and was probably his mother. By 1851 he had married Christina who was considerably younger than him. In 1861 his brother Walter J Scott who was a retired merchant was living with Scott and his wife at Inveresk.

He became architect to the National Bank, and worked on many of their premises from c.1848 to c.1860 when he was either succeeded or superseded by David MacGibbon. He died on 3 July 1871, aged 73.
