| Bio Notes: | Hubert Bensted was born in 1844 in Maidstone, Kent and was articled to John Whichcord and Henry Blandford there from 1858 to 1862. He remained with Whichcord as assistant for a year thereafter and subsequently worked for William Slater and Richard Herbert Carpenter in London for nine months in 1865, and for Henry Isaac Stevens and Frederick Josias Robinson in Derby for a year thereafter. He commenced independent practice in Maidstone in 1867, and was admitted FRIBA in 1886. Bensted died in Kent in 1922. |
