Bio Notes: John Rutherford Wight was born in 1829, the son of the Rev James Wight. He practised in Edinburgh, initially starting on his own in the early 1860s and then entering into partnership with Henry Hardy in the late 1860s following the retirement of Hardy's partner George Smith. Hardy was two years younger - born in 1831, the son of Thomas Hardy and Robina Forrester - and appears in the RSA catalogues as landscape painter as well as architect.

Hardy died on 4 December 1908 at 32 Minto Street; Wight on 8 September 1919 at 76 Hamilton Place.
