On completion of his apprenticeship in 1877 he joined Robert Rowand Anderson as assistant, subsequently serving as assistant to William Forrest Salmon of James Salmon & Son from 1879 to 1881 and finally to H & D Barclay of Glasgow from 1881 to 1882. Forrester then succeeded both to the practice and to the surveyor's post. He was admitted FRIBA relatively late in his career, on 5 December 1904, his proposers being Robert Rowand Anderson, Robert Stephen Ayling and Arthur Ardron. His works were mainly ecclesiastical but also included commercial and residential buildings and factories, and all were in England or Ireland. He died on 12 January 1911. | Private and Business AddressesThe following private or business addresses are associated with this : | | Address | Type | Date from | Date to | Notes | | Edinburgh, Scotland | Private | | 1882 | | | 44, Kensington Hill Gardens, London, England | Private | 1904 * | | | | 35, Old Queen Street, Westminster, London, England | Business | 1904 * | | |
