Basic Biographical Details Name: | John Bright Gladstone | Designation: | | Born: | Early 1875 | Died: | 24 February 1950 | Bio Notes: | John Bright Gladstone was born in Lockerbie in early 1875, and was a member of a noted local family. He trained in Falkirk and Carlisle. He began to practise on his own account in 1904 in Lockerbie and was responsible for a number of ecclesiastical buildings in the south of Scotland and north of England. He was given automatic admittance as LRIBA in 1925, without proposers, by which time he was working from 100 High Street, Dumfries. He was a keen sportsman, winning many trophies for bowling and curling. He was also an active Freemason, and was for many years secretary of his local branch of the Oddfellows.
