Bio Notes: Archibald John Grahame was born in 1856 or 1857 and trained in London with Thomas Grahame Jackson to whom he was probably related. He commenced independent practice there. He took up the post of University Extension lecturer but fell ill when on a sketching tour in Italy in 1885 where he had gone to collect more material for his lectures. He died later the same year aged 28 years and was buried in Highgate Cemetery. His obituarist writes: 'he was an exemplification of that standard of general culture in an architect which is spoken of as so desirable'.
