Bio Notes: Carl Herbert Hartmann was educated at Banstead and Charterhouse, and studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1906 and 1907. In the latter year he was articled to John Belcher in London, where he commenced independent practice in partnership with G E Dunnage on completion of his apprenticeship in 1910. Hartmann changed his first name to Charles sometime after 1914. He was killed in action in 1918.
