Bio Notes: Robert Douglas was born about 1872, the son of John Douglas, land steward of the Murrayfield Estate, Lockerbie. He was articled to Frank J C Carruthers in Lockerbie and after gaining further experience in Glasgow and Ayr he returned to Lockerbie where he acquired the business of Mr A Chapman and practised as an architect and surveyor.

He died of the wounds he received while in action at the Dardanelles on 20 July 1915.
