Bio Notes: Robert W Findlater is not in the British Architectural Library/RIBA 'Directory of British Architects 1834-1914' or 'Who's Who in Architecture'. He was born about 1869 in Kirkcaldy, the son of John Findlater, bank agent and his wife Christina. He was in partnership with John Murray from 1900 to 1903 at 26 Frederick Street, Edinburgh. By 1901 his mother was widowed and the family were living at 30 Buckingham terrace in Edinburgh which he later shared by his brother Henry L Findlater, W S. After the dissolution of the partnership he remained initially at 26 Frederick Street but moved to number 50A in the same street, where he remained until c.1917, whereafter his practice continued from Buckingham Terrace. It disappears from the directories in the early 1920s.
