Basic Biographical Details Name: | Thomas Cook | Designation: | | Born: | 1833 | Died: | 1911 | Bio Notes: | Thomas Cook was born in Wigan, Greater Manchester in 1833, he was the eldest son of Alderman Thomas Cook, three times MAyor of Wigan He was articled to William Henry Gee of Liverpool 1850-55 and remained as chief draughtsman until 1863. He commenced independent practice in Liverpool from March 1863 though it may be that securing the commission for the Ewart Institute some months before this induced him to make this move. He was elected FRIBA on 3 June 1889, his proposers being Edmund Bertram Kirby, George Enoch Grayson and Thomas L Reade.
He was in partnership with his son in the 1890s and thereafter with Otis Dudley Black.
