Bio Notes: James Jackson Craig was born c.1841, the son of Robert Craig, farmer and his wife Isabella Jackson. He commenced practice in partnership with James Corrie at 125 West Regent Street in 1874 or 1875 under the practice title of Corrie & Craig and on 15 September 1875 he married Lilias Morton, the daughter of a potato merchant, James Morton at Stonelaw Farm, Rutherglen. This Rutherglen connection brought him the appointment of burgh surveyor there.

In the difficult conditions after the failure of the City of Glasgow Bank in 1879 the partnership was dissolved, Craig reopening at 175 St Vincent Street and in Rutherglen, ultimately taking his son Morton Craig into partnership as J Jackson Craig & Son.

Craig died of cystitis at 1 Burnside Road, Cambuslang on 30 April 1932.
