Bio Notes: William Nicholson Cumming served his apprenticeship with an unspecified Edinburgh firm from September 1882 and studied at the Edinburgh School of Art and Heriot-Watt College, taking classes at the Edinburgh Architectural Association and passing the qualifying exam in London in November 1892. He was elected ARIBA on 9 January 1893, his proposers being John Macvicar Anderson, Thomas Edward Collcutt and Alexander Graham. His membership lapsed in 1901.
