Kennedy married Isabella Dewar. He latterly took his son James into partnership along with Andrew Myles, the practice title changing to Angus Kennedy, Son & Myles. No further information is known of James's early life but Myles had been born c.1841 in Glasgow, the son of Andrew Myles and his wife Helen Malcolm, who came from Stirlingshire.
