He joined the partnership of Boston Menzies & Morton sometime in the mid-1890s, at which date an office was opened at 17 Bank Street, Alexandria (the main office being at 11 William Street, Greenock). His house was Overvale, Bonhill in the 1890s and by 1923 or 1924 he was living at Smollett Street, Alexandria.
Despite the fact that little is known of the partners, the firm of Boston Menzies & Morton was very able, the Greenock Masonic Temple being quite Burnetian and the Queen's Hotel at Kirn inventive Arts and Crafts with Art Nouveau touches. A strong Art Nouveau influence is also present in the flowing tracery of Clune Park Church at Port Glasgow. Their offices remained at 11 William Street, Greenock at least into the 1920s.
