Basic Biographical Details Name: | David William Crawford | Designation: | | Born: | c. 1879(?) | Died: | | Bio Notes: | David William Crawford was born probably c.1879 and lived at 12 Carlton Street. He exhibited student drawings of Lincoln Cathedral, Holyrood Abbey, Cartwell Priory and Peterborough Cathedral at the Royal Scottish Academy between 1899 and 1912, his drawing of Lincoln being published in 'Academy Architecture' (1899, Part I, p 74). In the early 1920s he was a principal draughtsman with Dick Peddie & Walker Todd, making the drawings for the original scheme for the Royal Bank in Hope Street, Edinburgh, in 1922 but it is unclear whether the design was his or Todd's. The building was not constructed until 1930 by which date Crawford's scheme had been revised by Sydney Houghton Miller with whom Todd had been in partnership at 19 Young Street before the First World War.
