An architect, surveyor and valuator working in Edinburgh, he took his longstanding draughtsman Mr Graham into partnership in July 1901, along with John Brown (b. 1878), who had been working with him as a surveyor since April 1898 and assisting him with all aspects of his practice. The firm was known as Forrester, Graham & Brown. Forrester died just a few months after the partnership was formed, and the business was continued by Brown and Graham.
