Bio Notes: James Barnet was born in 1827 in Arbroath. He trained in England, being a pupil of Charles James Richardson and in the office of Richard Suter. He emigrated to Sydney Australia in 1849 and worked as Clerk of Works to the University Buildings there under Thomas Blacket. He was elected FRIBA on 18 January 1886, his proposers being A Cates, C Barry and J M Anderson.
