Bio Notes: Arthur James Barclay was born in 1880 and articled to John Sear for four years. He attended Robert Gordon's College, Aberdeen. He was subsequently assistant to Alexander Marshall Mackenzie for six years, to Matear & Simon of Liverpool for two years and then to Leslie Ower for two years. He emigrated to Canada and commenced independent practice in 1908 in Toronto and Goderich. He was elected LRIBA on 20 March 1911, his proposers being Mackenzie, Ower and William Fleming Wilkie.
