Bio Notes: James Halliday seems to have been a native of Belfast and to have worked there until at least the 1870s. In 1879 he appears along with other members of his family in the Valuation Roll under 8 Church Place, Dumfries as 'architect, Belfast' Little is yet known of James Halliday other than some of his jobs and that he practised in Dumfriesshire. He formed a brief partnership with James Barbour in Ediinburgh, remaining there for only one year. Halliday formed an equally brief partnership with Frank St Ogger.
