Bio Notes: J Coates Carter was articled to John Bond Pearce of Norwich and an improver to John Pollard Seddon. He attended the RA Schools. He became a FRIBA on 30 April 1900. He was in partnership with J P Seddon 1885-1904. He was President of the Cardiff, South Wales and Monmouthshire Architects' Society in 1900.

He died on 21 October 1927.
