Basic Biographical Details Name: | William James Castell Irvine | Designation: | | Born: | 2 May 1911 | Died: | 22 January 2004 | Bio Notes: | William James Castell Irvine was born on 2 May 1911 and was served a three-year apprenticeship in an unspecified office from August 1929, following which he spent three years studying at Aberdeen School of Architecture. He obtained his diploma, and an exemption from the RIBA final exam, in July 1935, and was admitted ARIBA on 18 October 1937, his proposers being Robert Leslie Rollo, Alexander George Robertson Mackenzie and John Gibb Marr. At that time he was working in the office of Jenkins & Marr.
By 1950 he had moved to Stirling and had taken a post in the County Architect's Office there. By 1970 he had moved back to Aberdeen wo work for the City Architect's Department.
Irvine resigned from the RIBA in December 1976, having retired. His address at that time was 38 Cairncry Road, Aberdeen. He died on 22 January 2004 at the City Hospital in Aberdeen.
