Basic Biographical Details Name: | John Flett Duncan | Designation: | | Born: | 2 January 1905 | Died: | | Bio Notes: | John Flett Duncan was born on 2 January 1905 and was articled to R M Fulton of Buckie, Banffshire on 22 November 1920. After completing his apprenticeship he was appointed junior assistant draughtsman to John Alexander Ogg Allan of Aberdeen. He transferred to a similar post in the office of George Morrison Hay of Aberdeen on 28 November 1927, and on 17 August 1928 was appointed assistant to James Wood, Banffshire County Architect, in Cullen.
After four months in Wood's office he commenced formal studies at the School fo architecture, Robert Gordon's Colleges, where he obtained his diploma in July 1933. On 5 June the following year he returned to Wood's office for another four months as assistant, before moving to Belfast where he joined the Ministry of Finance Office of Works on 9 October 1934. He was still there when he was admitted ARIBA on 11 February 1935, his proposers being R Leslie Rollo, John Alexander Ogg Allan and John Gibb Marr.
