Basic Biographical Details Name: | Lionel Ethelbert Knight | Designation: | | Born: | 4 October 1908 | Died: | 1972 | Bio Notes: | Lionel Ethelbert Knight was born on 4 October 1908 and was articled to George Watt of Aberdeen from 1926 to 1929, studying part-time at the School of Architecture, Robert Gordon's Colleges. He spent the following three years taking full-time classes at the School, obtaining his diploma and an exemption from the RIBA final exam in 1933. Thereafter he assisted in Watt's office before moving to England to work as assistant first to Messrs Bentalls Ltd of Kingston, Surrey and then to the London County Council. He was admitted ARIBA on 13 May 1935, his proposers being Robert Leslie Rollo, John Gibb Marr and T Scott Sutherland. His nomination papers give no business address, but only a private address of 'Rosedene', Claremont Avenue, Woking, Surrey.
Knight retired from practice at the end of August 1969 and became a Retired Associate of the RIBA at that time.
