Bio Notes: James Cowan was a son of Joseph Cowan, architect to the archdiocese of Glasgow. By the 1890s he had joined his father and brother J L Cowan (not to be confused with James Lymburn Cowan) in partnership, the practice title becoming Joseph Cowan & Sons. James appears to have died or left the practice before 1902 when the Cowans took Walter Robert Watson into partnership.
