Bio Notes: Thomas Begg McFadzen (in RSA catalogues McFadyen and sometimes spelled McFadzean in press reports) was a pupil of Peddie & Kinnear, worked on the Scottish Provident Institute, Edinburgh and supervised its erection. He had eventually reached a senior position in the office by 1869 when he signed the drawings for the alterations at 76 George Street, just prior to setting up on his own account. He worked in styles very close to those of Peddie & Kinnear; his Grahamston Church was a copy reverse of theirs at Alloa: Arnothall (Arnot Park) derives from their St Mary Mount at Peebles; and Arnothill (now Eriden) and Coltbridge Hall from the superseded Jacobean scheme for their Lathallan.
