Basic Biographical Details

Name: Alexander Baird
Designation:
Born:
Died:
Bio Notes: Alexander Baird was a competent classical and Gothic architect who practised in Airdrie in the 1820s and 1830s. He appears as a carpenter, joiner and builder in Pigot's Directory of 1825-6. He was burgh treasurer of Airdrie. Some confusion arises because Alexander Baird who founded the firm William Baird & Co was also active in Airdrie about this time. It may be possible that he was the burgh treasurer.
