Basic Biographical Details Name: | Robert Annan | Designation: | | Born: | 1869 | Died: | 29 August 1911 | Bio Notes: | Robert Annan was born in Edinburgh in 1869 and articled to Edward Calvert from 1885 to 1890, studying at Edinburgh School of Art. On completion of his training he moved to London and became Chief Draughtsman to Albert Edward Pridmore, subsequently working for William Cecil Marshall in Berners Street. Thereafter he was an assistant in the Metropolitan Asylums Board Architects' Department for five years, during which period, in 1891, he became a Member of the Society of Architects. He commenced independent practice in 1894 in Leith, where he continued to work for five years. His movements between 1899 and 1908 are not known but in the late summer of the latter year he went into partnership with F Endell Rosser at 22 Vernon Road, East Sheen, London. He was admitted LRIBA on 20 March 1911, his proposers being Andrew Whitford Anderson, Francis Thomas Wilberforce Goldsmith and Alfred Williams Stephens Cross.
